THE STUDIO

The Beginning

In March 2020, I moved my art studio to my kitchen table as I moved my university teaching online. For the first time in my life, art making and teaching became intertwined in a magical way as I moved fluidly between my practice and my classes.

I have since moved back to my art studio (in an industrial space outside my home) but one does not necessarily need this kind of space to be an artist. This strange pandemic time period taught me invention and adaptation. A studio can be created anywhere. This was the case for both me and my students. Together, we began to think about how our lives and our domestic spaces could feed our imaginations and creative practices. We made sculptures in our beds and hung drawings in windows. I planted a garden and made paper sculptures outside when the days were warm enough.

This is a time of change and I want to integrate the creative spirit into life every single day. My workshops will help you build a space where a studio can be created anywhere at any moment. Make art in your kitchen. Make art in a park. Art and creativity should be accessible to everyone.
